It allows you to use the optional GoPro or BtS GoPro Camera Quick Release (BTSGPCQR) on an underwater camera/housing tray with a standard 1/4"-20 threaded hole. Alternatively, you could use the optional BtS Universal Quick Disconnect (BTSUNIQRC), to which you can attach any camera or underwater housing with a 1/4"-20 tripod mount.
